Conor Eckert is passionate about delivering results for stakeholders. Conor graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a Bachelor's degree in Public Policy and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a specialization in local government management and leadership and evidence-based decision making.
Conor is the Director of Economic Development for the Town of Montgomery, New York and the Executive Director of the Town of Montgomery Industrial Development Agency (IDA). As one of the youngest Executive Directors of an IDA in the history of New York State, Conor works to find new ways to solve old problems. In this role, Conor manages a project portfolio of over $100 million and 2 million square feet of development ranging from advanced manufacturing to logistics and green energy projects. Furthermore, Conor is responsible for business attraction and retention, community relations, strategy development, and public relations for the Office of Economic Development and IDA.
Prior to this role, Conor gained valuable economic development experience in both the Southern Tier and at Orange County, New York. As an Economic Development Analyst for Orange County, Conor worked with leadership to develop the first technology sector attraction strategy, focusing on innovative zoning recommendations and formalized technology workforce development partnerships between government and institutions of higher education.
Conor’s passion for economic development comes from a desire to bring positive change to a community. Being part of a process that can create jobs, attract investment, and improve the quality of life of a community are just a few reasons Conor was initially drawn to economic development. He is excited to continue to learn and grow in the economic development field as part of the Grella Partnership Strategies team.
